About Gordon K. Walker

Gordon K Walker, writer and probation officer helps individuals reach their dreams and goals using the transtheoretical model

Welcome to my world of climbing mountains and overcoming obstacles!

I'm Gordon K Walker and with 25 years under my belt as a probation officer and basketball coach, I'm deeply passionate about unlocking human potential using the Transtheoretical model.

As a probation officer and basketball coach at the middle-school and high-school levels, those close to me often comment on my unique ability to work effectively with challenging personalities, discerning the hidden potential within my clients, and my tenacity in bringing out the best in them. Witnessing my clients see the world from a fresh perspective is a joy akin to the exhilaration I feel when hiking in the high terrain of the Colorado Rockies.

In my youth, a 10th-grade basketball coach recognized and nurtured a potential in me that others overlooked. As I grew older, I acknowledged the significant influence this coach had on my life. This realization led me to emulate him, seeking the latent potential in every individual I encountered, be it a former prisoner or an underdog athlete. Everyone has untapped potential—a hidden diamond—some just need a little assistance in discovering it.

Probation and Personal Growth

My work in probation offers a platform to challenge, inspire, and direct individuals toward a brighter path in their lives. The Transtheoretical Model of the Stages of Change, pivotal in probation work, is universally applicable for anyone committed to personal evolution. In recent years, overcoming health challenges reignited my passion for the trails in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The profound lessons from these mountain treks have become symbolic of surmounting obstacles and resistance to change. I frequently integrate these insights into my professional interactions.

Sharing Stories and Wisdom

My love for writing, coupled with the inherent "Coach" in me, fuels my desire to convey ideas and insights to those eager to learn. I often use climbing metaphors to address daily challenges many face, and I explain the change process through the Transtheoretical model.

I occasionally share genuine stories of individuals navigating the intricate process of change. My intention is for this site to be a reservoir of genuine experiences—real challenges, tangible hope, and actual triumphs. Moreover, it highlights the inevitable repercussions we face when we choose to ignore the necessary changes in our lives.
